"No man is worth your tears, and when you find the man who is, he'll never make you cry." - Unknown

It was a peaceful day in the Leaf Village...at least...it seemed peaceful. On a bench sat Haruno Sakura, crying uncontrollably at the loss of her crush, Uchiha Sasuke.

He had left the village to seek power from Orochimaru, a rogue ninja who lived in the Leaf Village, and not even Sakura's desperate call could change Sasuke's mind.

Why did you have to leave, Sasuke-kun? Sakura thought as she sobbed. Revenge is never the answer to anything.

She shook her head, snapping her out of her trance.

"Get ahold of yourself, Sakura," she ordered herself. "Sasuke-kun's gone, and there's nothing you can do about it!"

Although she told herself those words, she couldn't help but still believe it...the fact that Naruto was going to find him. He had to do it.

"Maybe Naruto can convince Sasuke-kun to return... No! He will get him back, I know it! Naruto would never let me down!"

Sadness quickly took over Sakura again, and she started to cry again.

Who am I kidding? Sasuke-kun will never come back. He didn't listen to me.

"Sakura-san?"

Sakura looked up to see Rock Lee, still on his cast and recovering from his injury. "Do you mind if I sit with you?"

The pink-haired kunoichi shook her head and scooted over slightly to let the dark-haired boy sit. Lee saw her face, knowing that she was crying. He knew why.

"Do not worry, Sakura-san," he said, cheerfully. "Naruto-kun will bring Sasuke-kun back. You can count on him to do so!"

Sakura looked at Lee. "Yeah, I'm sure he will."

Then a silence spread over them, until Sakura spoke again. "But...I don't understand why he left. No matter what I did..." She sniffed. "I couldn't stop him. I don't understand."

Burying her face in her hands, she cried again, this time slightly louder. "Why am I not good enough for him?! What have I done wrong to make him reject me?!"

Lee watched as Sakura sobbed and looked at his feet.

Not good enough... He seemed to feel that way when he was around Sakura. He remembered the incident during the Chuunin Exams, but that wasn't going to stop him. He had promised his teacher and idol, Gai, that he would get Sakura to like him. But what if she never felt the same way?

Maybe I should...

"Sakura-san, please let me speak."

Sakura looked up at Lee, curious to know his thoughts. Lee looked at her, slightly blushing and fidgeting his fingers.

"What is it, Lee-san?"

Lee stood up straight and looked into Sakura's tearful eyes. He gently wiped one away from her delicate face, his onyx eyes soft and gentle. "I know that Sasuke-kun means a lot to you, but...there is someone else that likes you, and that someone is me."

He held out a bouquet of roses toward her. "Please, Sakura-san! Please give me a chance at happiness with you. I promise to protect you until the day I die."

Sakura was speechless. She knew Lee had a crush on her, but why would he continue to pursue her after being rejected? Her heart was touched by his words, even if they were direct and straightforward.

"Th-thank you, Lee-san," she said as she blushed and took the roses. "That was...the sweetest thing you've ever said to me. Yes...I-I'll give you another chance."

Lee looked at Sakura, surprised. Did he just hear what she said? She would actually give him another chance?

"You...you will?"

She nodded and smiled as Lee's expression. Her words had left him in a daze until she spoke once more.

"I...just wished I had said it before. I'm really sorry for being so cold to you earlier."

A small smile painted across his face as he reached over, brushing his lips against Sakura's. He had already forgave her for that incident, he was just afraid she would pull away from his kiss.

Strangely, to his surprise, she didn't. Instead she returned the gesture, placing her hands on his face.

The kiss lasted for another few seconds, until the two pulled away, their face resembling cherries. Both were speechless for a bit.

"You should get some rest now. Your leg needs to heal," Sakura said kindly.

With a nod, Lee stood up onto his crutch. Sakura stood with him, taking the roses in one hand and Lee's arm in another.

"I'll help you walk home so you won't have to work that leg as hard."

Lee's lips curled into a smile as he started to limp down the path to his house, Sakura staying close by his side.

Gai-sensei... I never thought this would happen. But you were right; Sakura actually gave me another chance...
