"As we grow older together, as we continue to change with age, there is one thing that will never change... I will always keep falling in love with you." - Karen Clodfelder

Uzumaki Naruto quietly walked through the streets of Konohagakure. His mind was filled with millions of racing thoughts, he was thinking of the perfect Thanksgiving present for a special someone.

Crap! The blonde mentally slapped himself. Why does this have to be so hard?! ...Crap!

The red, yellow, orange and brown leaves fell from the trees and onto the dirt ground. It was a beautiful but cold November day. Thanksgiving was just around the corner. And Naruto couldn't find a good present for his special person!

He traveled to Hokage Mountain and sat on top of the carvings, looking up at the clear blue sky. What should he get this special person...?

As he stared up at the sky, Naruto could see his imagination playing tricks on him. The white, marshmallow clouds above him began to form into the shape of a young woman. A young woman with long, indigo hair...

Hyuuga Hinata... Just her face made Naruto's heart soar with happiness. She was his love, his joy... She was the world to him...

On a warm spring day of April, a 18 year-old Naruto stood atop the old Hokage building, looking down at the people of Konohagakure. He was clad in his usual ninja attire blanketed by a long white robe adorned with red and orange flames. The Hokage hat had been placed on his head and a wide, satisfied smile adorned the man's face.

Naruto's dream had finally come true. He was finally named the Sixth Hokage.

Sakura smiled as she stood beside him, tears of happiness cascading down her face. She never thought he would be able to do it. She thought Naruto would never become Hokage. But... She was proved wrong. Big time.

As he looked down at his previous classmates and close friends, Naruto noticed someone was missing. Hinata! She was absent!

"Where's Hinata?" the blonde question his pink-haired friend.

The kunoichi shrugged. "I don't know," she answered. "I thought she had arrived."

Naruto quickly jumped off the building, landing on his feet, and dashed off to find the Hyuuga.

Once he arrived at the Hyuuga estate, Naruto knocked on the door. Unfortunately, the person who answered was Hinata's father, Hiashi. Upon seeing him, Hiashi bowed respectively.

"Hokage-sama... I-I didn't expect you. Forgive me."

A cheeky grin spread across Naruto's face. "Nah, don't worry about it!" he said cheerfully. "Actually, I'm looking for Hinata. Is she here?"

Hiashi stood up and shook his head. "I'm afraid not, Hokage-sama. Hinata went for a walk by herself so I'm not quite certain where she is."

"Oh, okay. Thanks."

Meanwhile, Hyuuga Hinata, now 18 years of age, walked quietly through the empty streets of Konoha. Her long, indigo hair flowed past her shoulders and she still kept her formal attire. Her lavender eyes were deeply saddened. She had missed the Hokage ceremony. Her childhood crush had just been named Sixth Hokage and she had overslept. Nice work.

I feel so stupid, the Hyuuga woman thought. I can't believe I missed Naruto-kun's ceremony. If only I hadn't overslept... I'm sure he didn't notice anyway, so that's good enough for me...

Hinata came across the Konoha Academy, spotting the old tree swing. She sat down and swung herself, thoughts racing through her head. Did he even notice her abscense? He probably didn't... Probably too caught up with Sakura.

"Hey! Hinata!"

The Hyuuga woman looked up, her eyes filled with surprise when she saw Naruto running towards her. He stopped in front of her, panting heavily. Hinata blushed brightly once she saw Naruto's Hokage attire and quickly bowed.

"N-Naruto-kun... I mean, H-Hokage-sama! I-I'm so sorry! I-I didn't mean..."

"It's okay, Hinata." Naruto stood up and smiled. "You can still call me Naruto if you want." Then his smile vanished as he said, "Why didn't you come to the ceremony? I didn't see you there..."

A look of surprise came across Hinata's face. She turned her eyes from the ground to Naruto's beautiful yet concerned blue eyes. He noticed?

"U-Um... I-I... Um..." Her lavender eyes filled with tears. "I'm sorry, Naruto-kun... I didn't mean to disappoint you."

Naruto stared at her, a confused expression painting his face. "You didn't disappoint me, Hinata. Why would you think that?"

"I-I didn't even come to the ceremony!" Hinata blurted, surprising both Naruto and herself. "Aren't you angry with me at all?" Unable to further control herself, she fell to her knees, crying out.

At seeing her crying face, Naruto's eyes saddened as he kneeled next to her, holding her in his strong arms and soothingly rubbing her back. He never knew she would break down so easily, especially because of a ceremony.

"Hinata... You don't have to cry," he whispered. "It's okay if you didn't go. I'm sure you had your reasons not to go."

Sniffing, Hinata quietly replied, "I overslept. That's why I missed the ceremony..."

For a minute or two, everything was silent. Then a chuckle was heard. And then a laugh. Hinata looked to see her blonde crush laughing. An eyebrow raised. What was so funny?

"N-Naruto-kun... What's so funny?"

Naruto stopped laughing and looked down at her, grinning. "You overslept? Hinata, you didn't have to get upset over that!" He gently wiped a tear from the woman's face. She truly was a beauty... "Really, you didn't. I was just wondering if you were okay and... it's okay if you didn't come. I'm not mad at you..."

More tears fell down Hinata's face but this time... they were tears of happiness. Her face lit up, her plump lips curling into a sweet smile. She jumped, knocking Naruto down on the ground, her face buried in his chest.

"Thank you, Naruto-kun... Thank you so much..."

It's been three years since that day. Three wonderful years... Naruto smiled at the memory, it was something he would never forget. Now, he and Hinata were married with two beautiful children: one girl (Aiko) and one boy (Haru). Their friends had also settled, some of them married with children. Everyone's life was pretty perfect.

But Thanksgiving was coming up... and Naruto had no idea what to get Hinata! Luckily, she was off on a mission, so she wouldn't be home until Thanksgiving Day.

"I've got to come up with something!" Naruto muttered. "But what...?" Then an idea came to his head. A good idea... Naruto smiled to himself. I've got it!

Thanksgiving Day began with a beautiful orange, red and pink sunrise. The young Hokage was awakened by his shoulders being shaken lightly.

"Daddy, wake up!"

Naruto turned his back, covering his head with his blanket. "Mmm... Five more minutes..."

"But Mommy will be coming home soon!"

At hearing this, Naruto opened his eyes and shot up in bed. Two pairs of blue and lavender eyes stared up at him as the young blonde dashed out of bed.

"Crap! I almost forgot!"

Dashing into the bathroom, Naruto quickly got himself dressed and made breakfast for the children. Then putting on his Hokage uniform, he was just about to dash out the front door, until he heard Aiko speak,

"Daddy, what are we gonna do for Mommy? She's gonna come home soon!"

A smile came across Naruto's face as he turned to his 3 year-old daughter, kneeling to her eye level. He placed a hand on her soft, blonde hair and said, "Don't worry about it. I'll make sure to surprise your mother." His grin widened. "You two wanna help me?"

Both children smiled brightly and nodded. Naruto chuckled a bit and helped them get dressed. This'll be a great Thanksgiving!

As the hours passed, the sun gradually began to set. An array of red, orange, yellow and pink adorned the sky as a few faint stars began to emerge. By that time, Hinata had returned from her mission, the rest of Team 8 by her side, only to be greeted by Naruto and their two children.

"Mommy, you're home!"

Hinata laughed as she opened her arms, letting her two beautiful children run toward her. She scooped them up in her arms, kissing their chubby cheeks. Then she walked over to her husband, planting a kiss on his loving face.

"Glad to see you come home safely," Naruto whispered with a smile.

"I'm glad to be back," Hinata replied with a slight blush.

The couple smiled, staring into each other's eyes, and their lips made contact.

Kiba stuck out his tongue in a playful manner, shouting in a joking matter, "Get a room, you two!"

"Come on, Naruto-kun! When can I see?" Hinata pleaded her husband.

Naruto grinned, pulling Hinata by her hands. "Just wait and see. We're almost there!" He led her back to their home and opened the front door, saying, "Okay... Open your eyes."

Opening her eyes, Hinata gasped at the beautiful sight in front of her. Orange, red, yellow and brown leaves adorned the house and the dining table was set to perfection. A large turkey sat in the center surrounded by bowls of creamy white mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables and light, fluffy biscuits. A pumpkin pie could also be seen in the mix. The dinner looked truly delectable.

Hinata's eyes were full of amazement at the dinner. The children looked up at their mother, happy to see her reaction, as Naruto grinned cheekily. Hinata turned to them, hugging them tightly.

"You did all of this... for me...?"

A laugh erupted from her husband as he answered, "Of course we did! Why wouldn't we?" His eyes softened as he looked deep into her lavender orbs. "I wanted to make this day special for you, Hinata."

The woman blushed brightly and then hugged her family again. "Well," she said with a smile, "we shouldn't let all of this go to waste, now should we?"

It was later that evening and Hinata stood on the balcony of her home. The night sky had emerged, the only light coming from the stars. Both Aiko and Haru were sleeping in their beds, practically stuffed from their lavish Thanksgiving dinner. Hinata smiled to herself as she looked up at the moon.

"What did I do to deserve such a wonderful family...?" she pondered.

"You did a lot..."

Turning, Hinata spotted Naruto walking onto the balcony. His hands rested on the bar as he looked up at the moon with her. Hinata smiled up at her husband and Naruto turned his eyes toward her, a smile adorning his handsome features.

"Did you like everything?"

Hinata smiled. "Of course I did," she replied with a giggle. "I appreciate the fact that you and the children did that for me... But... what did you mean by saying 'I did a lot'?"

Naruto shook his head and sighed. Then he looked to the evening sky. "When we were still genin," he began, "nobody really believed I could be Hokage. Nobody believed I could do anything."

He paused for a bit and then looked down at Hinata. "But... you believed me. You were the only one who believed in me no matter what. And... I never got a chance to thank you for that." He smiled when he saw Hinata's surprised face.

"You always encouraged me whenever I was in battle and I was so blind, thinking that Sakura would believe in me. I should've thanked you before but I was too naive. So..." Naruto wrapped his arms around her, pulling her smaller frame closer to his larger one. "...thank you... Hinata. I never would've made it without you..."

For a minute, Hinata stood still, surprised and flushed. But gradually, she smiled, wrapping her arms around Naruto's waist. "I was more than happy to help you," she replied, "and I'll always be here for you... no matter what..."

Well I thought it was an excellent piece. The characters were believable and the love between Naruto and Hinata is evident. Only one thing bothered me. I thought it was odd for Naruto to suddenly want Hinata to be at the ceremony. Because originally I don't think Naruto would notice unless something had happend between them romantically or just something to make him care about her presence. I did like the children a lot. They were cute to me X3. OH and the time frame was a little strange. If Naruto and Hinata weren't dating before, and the ceremony scene had taken place 3 years before and Aiko is 3, it would be difficult to plan the wedding, get married and have a child all in one year. That's just my say in it though. If you disagree these are just my critiques, so you can ignore them.
